CJ Logistics said on the 13th that its operating profit on a consolidation basis for the first quarter of this year was tentatively tallied at 92.1 billion won, up 7.9% from the same period a year earlier.
Sales for the same period rose 7.4% to 3.2145 trillion won, while net income was tentatively tallied at 37.9 billion won, down 7.4%.
By business institutional sector, the parcel delivery institutional sector's operating profit was tallied at 34.2 billion won, down 0.3% from the same period last year. Sales were tallied at 967.8 billion won, up 10.5%.
The contract logistics institutional sector posted operating profit of 36.0 billion won, down 9.5% in the same period, while sales were tallied at 853.3 billion won, up 4.9%.
The global business division's first-quarter operating profit rose 52.6% year over year to 17.7 billion won, and sales were tallied at 1.1694 trillion won, up 2.3%.
CJ Logistics noted that in the parcel delivery institutional sector, sales increased as volume grew for the seven-days-a-week delivery service "Maeilone," and that in the global business division, performance improved on higher revenue in key strategic countries driven by large orders and increased cross-border logistics volume.
The contract logistics institutional sector said that while sales grew through continued new orders, profitability slowed due to volume declines in some industries such as ports.
CJ Logistics plans to continue investing in upgrading the parcel delivery business institutional sector network and improving technology-based operational efficiency, while also expanding new orders in the contract logistics and global business institutional sectors.
