GMC, the premium sport utility vehicle (SUV) and pickup truck brand of General Motors (GM), said on the 11th it will officially launch the "Hummer EV (electric) SUV" in the domestic market.
The key technology of the Hummer EV SUV is the electronic four-wheel steering system. All four wheels steer together to reduce the turning radius. It can turn more smoothly and precisely even in narrow city alleys or parking spaces and on limited off-road paths.
In particular, it supports diagonal movement called "CrabWalk." This function controls the rear wheels to turn at the same angle as the front wheels at low speeds. It is advantageous when exiting tight spaces or when fine-tuning the direction of travel on rough terrain.
There is also King Crab mode. The rear wheels steer faster than the front wheels to maintain vehicle control while providing a dynamic driving sensation reminiscent of drifting. It allows precise vehicle control in narrow sections or around obstacles during off-road driving. When Extract Mode is activated, the vehicle height increases by 149㎜, enabling easy passage over rough obstacles such as rocky terrain or puddles.
The Hummer EV SUV features GM's advanced driver-assistance system, Super Cruise. The driver can take hands off the steering wheel while keeping eyes on the road. A GMC official said, "In particular, it will deliver a new level of driving experience by sensing traffic flow to maintain distance between vehicles and automatically changing lanes depending on conditions."
The Infinity Roof, composed of four removable sky panels, is another appeal of the Hummer EV SUV. The transparent sky panels protect passengers from the elements while letting light into the cabin, offering occupants a wide-open feel. Removing the panels allows open-air motoring. The front power eTrunk provides up to about 319L of cargo space.
In addition, the Tmap connected service, consisting of Tmap Auto and Nugu Auto, is installed, and GM's connected service OnStar adds functions such as remote start and checking vehicle information including battery status.
The Hummer EV SUV was released in Korea in a single 2X trim. The vehicle price, including the 3.5% special consumption tax, is 246.57 million won.
