SK Chemicals said on the 8th that its first-quarter operating loss on a consolidation basis was 18.9 billion won, turning to a loss from the first quarter a year earlier. Revenue rose 22.2% from a year earlier to 655.9 billion won.
Excluding the results of SK bioscience, a subsidiary of SK Chemicals, standalone first-quarter revenue was 385.7 billion won and operating profit was 21.2 billion won. Compared with the prior quarter, revenue rose 14.2% and operating profit jumped 464.4%. Compared with the same period last year, revenue increased 11.1%, but operating profit fell 42.6%.
An SK Chemicals official said, "Even in the first quarter, when external conditions were highly volatile, we were able to maintain revenue growth as raw material procurement, production, and overall sales operated relatively stably," and added, "To prepare for uncertainties such as oil price fluctuations and supply chain instability, we will review our product portfolio, cost structure, and overall operating processes to strengthen substantive competitiveness and build a structure that can respond more flexibly to market changes."
