HD Hyundai Electric took part in the largest power equipment exhibition in North America and won an order for extra-high-voltage power facilities.
HD Hyundai Electric said on the 7th that it participated in the power industry exhibition "IEEE 2026," held in Chicago, Illinois, for four days starting on the 4th.
At the event, HD Hyundai Electric signed a contract with a major U.S. utility to supply 765-kilovolt (kV) extra-high-voltage transformers and reactors worth 173 billion won.
Through this contract, the company will take part in a backbone power grid construction project, a core program in plans to build a transmission network in the south-central United States.
The south-central United States is the country's largest concentrated wind power region and a key market where demand for extra-high-voltage transmission infrastructure is rising quickly.
In addition, HD Hyundai Electric shared its "2030 roadmap" outlining the direction of next-generation technologies at the exhibition.
In particular, it unveiled for the first time a 362 kV-class dead-tank extra-high-voltage circuit breaker (DTCB) aimed at the Americas market. Targeted for release in 2028, the DTCB features a structure that places the interrupting unit inside a metal tank, delivering high durability.
A HD Hyundai Electric official said, "We are continuing to develop products tailored to the local market in response to expanding investment in North American power infrastructure and growing demand to replace aging equipment," adding, "We will further solidify our position in the North American market based on a next-generation lineup of power equipment that covers everything from transmission to distribution."
This year, HD Hyundai Electric's order target is $4.222 billion (about 6.1 trillion won), up 10.5% from last year's target.
