HL Mando said on the 6th it will push in earnest to commercialize its artificial intelligence (AI)-based electric fire prevention solution "e-HAECHIE."
HAECHIE secured stability and reliability through proof of concept (PoC) at 17 factories in Korea. Mass production will begin in June.
The first customer is Hyundai Motor Group, and it will be applied at Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) in Georgia. An HL Mando official said, "Because this is an unmanned automated plant, remote handling is essential," adding, "From arc detection—one type of discharge phenomenon—to monitoring, judgment, and control, HL Mando's HAECHIE, which is equipped with an integrated disaster-prevention process, was chosen for that reason."
The mass-production HAECHIE has evolved into a "smart disaster-prevention consultant." While the early model was a simple arc detection system, the mass-production version introduces AI to analyze arc characteristics and patterns and even assess risk levels.
Depending on the risk level, it can perform essential preemptive measures such as inspection, equipment replacement, and changes to operating conditions. It also adds infrared sensors and thermal imaging cameras to track and detect even minute temperature changes.
HL Mando will unveil the mass-production product at the 2026 International Electric Power Exhibition, held at COEX in Seoul from the 6th to the 8th.
