Eastar Jet Co. said on the 3rd that it launched a new service on the Busan–Almaty route on the 1st, the first and only by an airline. It is Eastar Jet Co.'s second Central Asia route after the Incheon–Almaty service launched in Apr. last year.
The route operates twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays. The outbound flight departs Gimhae International Airport at 6:55 p.m. and arrives at Almaty International Airport at 10:40 p.m. (local time). The return flight departs at 11:40 p.m. local time and lands at Gimhae International Airport at 9:35 a.m. the following day.
According to Eastar Jet Co., the first outbound flight from Busan to Almaty recorded a 99% load factor.
An Eastar Jet Co. official said, "With the launch of the Busan–Almaty route, travel options for residents in the Yeongnam region have expanded to Central Asia," and added, "We will work with Korea Airports Corporation (KAC) to help increase the number of Almaty-origin travelers to Busan."
