Kyungdong Navien said on the 24th that it installed "dehumidifying ventilation air purifiers," which feature dehumidifying, ventilation and air purification functions, at 20 "smart shelters" in Jung District, including in front of the Samsung Main Building in Seoul and at the Sogong-dong Community Center bus stop. With a sweltering summer of high humidity expected, the aim is to help create urban shelters where citizens can rest in a comfortable environment.
A "smart shelter" is a public rest area created to allow people to wait comfortably for public transportation during heat waves, cold snaps and fine dust. It provides smart services such as heating and cooling, air purification and Wi-Fi. Kyungdong Navien installed ventilation air purifiers at Seoul's Fine Dust Free Zone Shelters in 2021 and at Gangnam District's Green Smart Shelters in 2023, and for this project it is contributing to creating comfortable shelters by installing dehumidifying ventilation air purifiers.
Kyungdong Navien's dehumidifying ventilation air purifier provides comfortable air through dehumidifying, ventilation and air purification. In particular, by applying a "dual dehumidification solution," it maintains the relative humidity at 40%–60%, the range people find comfortable, and, unlike air conditioners or dehumidifiers, efficiently manages only humidity without changing the temperature. As a result, it is also effective at saving heating and cooling energy. Lower humidity makes the same temperature feel cooler, so when used with cooling equipment it lowers the perceived temperature and prevents overcooling. With a "humidity-driven heat" that raises the discomfort index expected this summer, the effect of the dehumidifying ventilation air purifier in Green Smart Shelters is projected to grow.
The dehumidifying ventilation air purifier also automatically performs ventilation and air purification to improve indoor air quality. It measures carbon dioxide, radon, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and temperature and humidity in real time, and activates appropriate air quality management and purification functions based on the results.
Meanwhile, Kyungdong Navien will also sponsor the "2026 Yi Sun-shin Festival," a representative event of Jung District in Seoul, to promote mutual growth with the local community. The Yi Sun-shin Festival is scheduled to be held on the 25th around the Myeongbo Art Hall intersection.
