Hansol Paper said on the 23rd that it hosted the "2026 customer invitation paper technology seminar" at its Daejeon plant for major domestic food, distribution, and packaging clients.

The seminar was organized to seek industry cooperation and response strategies in line with tougher global eco-friendly regulations, including the European Union's Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) set to take effect in earnest starting in Aug., and to share new eco-friendly packaging products and the latest technologies.

Hansol Paper introduced a customized secondary packaging material, "Protego HS (Heat Sealable)," for food and packaging corporations struggling to respond to the PPWR. Protego HS can be applied to a wide range of food categories, including chocolate, candy, powdered sauces, gim (dried seaweed), and coffee, and consists of five product lines tailored to clients' printing methods and physical property requirements. It is also designed to meet "Grade A," the highest level of recyclability under EU standards.

Hansol Paper also proposed alternative material solutions that can address instability in the materials and supplies market. It expanded client options by introducing various eco-friendly product lines, including "Protego," a barrier flexible packaging material that can respond to the recent naphtha supply issue stemming from the Middle East war; "Terrabath," a takeout container with waterproof functionality; and an "eco-friendly paper cold box" that can replace expanded polystyrene.

About 60 officials from major clients, including CJ Logistics, Lotte Wellfood, GS Retail, and OTOKI, attended the seminar and discussed responses to global environmental regulations and directions for material transition.

A Hansol Paper official said, "In a situation where global environmental regulations are tightening and volatility in the supply of materials and supplies is increasing at the same time, close collaboration with clients is becoming more important," adding, "We will continue to present eco-friendly packaging solutions that meet our clients' needs."
