Hyundai Motor unveiled the Ioniq 3, a small electric hatchback designed exclusively for Europe, for the first time in the world.
Hyundai Motor said on the 20th (local time) that it presented the next-generation electric vehicle Ioniq 3 at the global design event "2026 Milan Design Week" held in Milan, Italy. The Ioniq 3 is the latest model of Hyundai Motor's dedicated EV brand Ioniq and is an exclusive model for the European market.
The Ioniq 3's exterior uses an "Aero Hatch" design that connects the front, roofline, and rear spoiler. The drag coefficient is 0.263. A lower drag coefficient improves performance in terms of fuel efficiency.
Hyundai Motor designed the Ioniq 3's interior in a "furnished space" manner. This means arranging the space as if placing furniture, and it offers generous interior room. It also secures a longer wheelbase (2,680 mm) than competing models. A 119-liter (L) Mega Box space is added under the trunk, providing a total of 441 L of best-in-class cargo capacity.
The Ioniq 3 was developed on Hyundai Motor Group's dedicated EV platform E-GMP and is equipped with a 61 kWh battery. On a single charge, the maximum driving range reaches 496 km (long range, Europe standard).
For the first time among models sold in Europe, it also comes with Pleos Connect, a next-generation infotainment system based on Android Automotive OS (AAOS). Advanced convenience features such as Hyundai Digital Key 2, Plug and Charge, and indoor/outdoor V2L (vehicle-to-load) are applied.
Xavier Martinet, head of Hyundai Motor's Europe regional headquarters, said, "We captured the Ioniq brand's values of design, advanced technology, and people-centricity in a compact form," adding, "It will play a very key role in Hyundai Motor's European EV lineup."
