The Ministry of SMEs and Startups said on the 20th it will run a pilot program to support hiring technical personnel for small and midsize corporations outside the Seoul metropolitan area. Regional corporations struggle to secure personnel for technology and new product development. The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) plans to ease hiring burdens by providing vouchers of up to 10 million won per corporation.
If a corporation hires specialized technical personnel with certain qualifications and experience through a headhunting firm and keeps the person employed for at least three months, the expense incurred in hiring will be subsidized. The total support amount is 1 billion won. The government support ratio is 75%. Corporations in rural and fishing communities with declining populations will receive a preferential rate of 5 to 10 percentage points.
Corporations wishing to participate can apply online from today through the 6th of next month. Details are available on the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) website (www.mss.go.kr).
Kwon Sun-jae, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) director for regional corporations policy, said, "For regional small and midsize corporations to innovate, they must secure the right personnel at the right time," and added, "We hope this pilot program will help corporations build technological capabilities."
