Koo Ja-eun, chairman of LS Group, lost his mother, Yoo Han-seon, 93, to natural causes at 10 a.m. on the 19th.
Born in 1933, the deceased married the late Gu Du-hoe, honorary chairman of Yesco, and had one son and three daughters: Chairman Koo Ja-eun; Koo Eun-jung, chairman of Taeun Logistics; Koo Ji-hee; and Koo Jae-ui.
Yoo was known as a frugal and caring mother who was a strong support to her children, including Chairman Koo, and was regarded as having devoted her life to her family.
Chairman Koo Ja-eun reportedly canceled on short notice his schedule to join President Lee Jae-myung's economic delegation to India and Vietnam and is staying at the mortuary. The bereaved family decided to hold a quiet family funeral in keeping with Yoo's wish for a frugal ceremony.
The mortuary has been set up at Room 20 of the funeral hall at Asan Medical Center in Songpa District, Seoul. The funeral procession is at 10 a.m. on the 21st, and the burial site is Gwangju Park Cemetery in Gwangju, Gyeonggi.
