Hansol Group's electric and electronic parts affiliate Hansol Technics will acquire the system semiconductor inspection parts corporations "Will Technology" to strengthen its semiconductor business.
Hansol Technics said on the 13th that it will carry out a rights offering worth 90 billion won and use the funds raised to acquire Will Technology.
On the 10th, Hansol Technics decided through a board resolution to conduct a total 90 billion won rights offering, including 45 billion won via a third-party allotment and 45 billion won via a shareholder allotment followed by a general public offering.
All funds secured through this rights offering will be used for the acquisition of Will Technology. Hansol Technics plans to secure Will Technology equity to about 83% and incorporate it as a subsidiary.
Will Technology, a semiconductor probe card manufacturing corporations, has continued its growth on the back of rising demand across the semiconductor market. A probe card is a component that tests the operating performance of semiconductor chips. Will Technology posted sales of 67.4 billion won and an operating profit of 9.5 billion won last year.
Hansol Technics' strategy is to strengthen competitiveness in the semiconductor business and secure a base for long-term growth through the acquisition of Will Technology. The company plans to expand its business portfolio into the high-growth semiconductor sector while maintaining stable operations of its existing businesses.
Hansol Holdings, the group's holding company, will participate in this rights offering and is set to acquire up to about 61.7 billion won worth of new shares.
A Hansol Technics official said, "This investment is a decision for strategic expansion into the semiconductor field, which has high future growth potential," adding, "We will establish a foundation for sustainable growth by advancing our business portfolio."
