The Ministry of SMEs and Startups said on the 9th that small bakery business owners may provide paper bags to customers free of charge.
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) held a meeting with the Korea Bakery Association that day to review the impact on small businesses and management difficulties stemming from the widening Middle East war. The meeting was arranged to hear on-site opinions by industry and to explore response measures.
Earlier, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) reviewed with related ministries the Korea Bakery Association's proposal on whether to allow the free provision of paper bags. As a result, it was confirmed that the paper bags used by bakeries are not subject to the current ban on free provision.
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) plans to continue holding industry-specific meetings for small business owners to resolve management difficulties and pursue institutional improvements.
Lee Byeong-gweon, second vice minister of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS), said, "Starting with the bakery industry meeting, we will expand communication with associations across various industries," and added, "We will closely listen to on-site difficulties and pursue practical support measures and institutional improvements."
