Sorin Information Technology, an IT affiliate of Korea Zinc, said on the 7th that it has changed its name to AXIS IT.
The name change was completed after approval of a partial amendment to the articles of incorporation for the name change at the regular shareholders meeting on the 18th of last month and the change to the business registration certificate on the 3rd.
AXIS IT said the new name carries the meaning of leading corporations' digital transformation as the axis of change and innovation.
By combining AX (AI Transformation), IS (Intelligent Service), and IT (Information Technology), it reflected a business direction based on artificial intelligence and intelligent services.
AXIS IT was established in 1996 as an IT affiliate of Korea Zinc. It has built IT operational capabilities by operating IT infrastructure and advancing systems at major domestic business sites and supporting overseas subsidiaries.
Recently, as Korea Zinc participates in the "Crucible Project" under construction in Clarksville, Tennessee, the United States, it is expanding the scope of its IT support.
Based on its accumulated experience in system construction and operation, it plans to strengthen external businesses such as infrastructure, business systems, and solutions, and to pursue AI-based services and intelligent IT solution businesses.
An AXIS IT official said, "This name change is a strategic decision to respond to a rapidly changing technology environment and strengthen the foundation for future growth," adding, "We will support customers' digital innovation by transitioning to an AI-first corporations."
