Geely Automobile Holdings, the parent company of Chinese electric vehicle brand Zeekr, said on the 7th that it launched Geely Technology Europe, which integrates its research and development (R&D) capabilities in Europe.
To reorganize Europe as a key base for global vehicle development and improve cross-regional collaboration efficiency, major R&D centers that had been dispersed in Gothenburg, Sweden, and Frankfurt, Germany, were consolidated into one.
Going forward, Geely Technology Europe will collaborate with the Geely Automobile Holdings research institute in China from the early stages of vehicle development and push ahead with designing next-generation vehicle platforms for the global market.
Geely Technology Europe will be operated around three strategies: ▲ joint development of global architectures ▲ product planning and market optimization ▲ strengthening AI-based digital experiences.
Through this, for major brands of Geely Automobile Holdings such as Zeekr, Geely, and Lynk & Co, it will shorten the new model launch gap between China and overseas markets to within six months. It also plans to double by 2027 the scale of vehicle development projects carried out in Europe to support its strategy to expand overseas sales.
Geely Automobile Holdings plans to promote the development of next-generation mechanical and electrical/electronic architectures through Geely Technology Europe and enhance product competitiveness by reflecting customer needs and regulatory standards by market. In addition, by developing software-defined vehicles (SDV) based on agentic AI, it will also push for advances in future mobility technologies such as advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), smart cockpits, and data security.
A Geely Automobile Holdings official said, "Europe is a key market that represents the automotive industry's technological prowess and high consumer expectations, so it is more important than anything to reflect global requirements from the early stages of development," and noted, "With the launch of Geely Technology Europe, we will build a cross-border R&D system, surpass global standards, and lead the market."
