As KleanNara's "third-generation owner management system" gains full steam, it has been confirmed that the husband of Vice President Choi Yun-su (44) of Bonowa, the second daughter of Honorary Chairman Choi Byung-min, is working at KleanNara.
KleanNara is a mid-sized comprehensive paper company in Korea that posted 514.8 billion won in revenue last year. The late founder Choi Hwa-sik established it in 1966, and it is now led by Chair Choi Hyun-su (47), the eldest daughter of Honorary Chairman Choi Byung-min and a third-generation owner. She is Vice President Choi Yun-su's older sister.
According to the paper industry on the 6th, Vice President Choi Yun-su's husband is Executive Director Ha Bo-young of KleanNara and currently heads the HL (Home & Life) division. Ha previously worked at LG H&H and at the China subsidiary of cosmetics ODM company COSMAX, and is said to have recently married Vice President Choi.
The HL division is a core business that accounts for 49.8% of KleanNara's revenue. The division manufactures and sells household goods such as toilet paper, wet wipes, sanitary pads and masks. Along with the PS (Paper Solution) division, which produces product packaging such as white board, it is one of the company's two pillars.
Notably, the wet wipes sold by the HL division overseen by Ha are produced by Bonowa, where Vice President Choi Yun-su works. Bonowa is a wholly owned subsidiary of KleanNara and operates a manufacturing plant in Eumseong, North Chungcheong Province. Bonowa recorded 17.3 billion won in revenue and 1.2 billion won in operating profit last year.
In this way, the husband leads a key division at the parent company responsible for product planning and sales, while the spouse belongs to the subsidiary in charge of production. Industry observers say the influence of the third-generation owner is expanding across the business.
Vice President Choi Yun-su also serves as CEO of Yoon Partners, a building leasing company. The company is 100% owned by the owner family, including Vice President Choi and Honorary Chairman Choi Byung-min.
Meanwhile, Choi Jeong-gyu (35), KleanNara's chief operating officer (COO) and the youngest son of Honorary Chairman Choi Byung-min, was recently reappointed as an inside director at a shareholders meeting and is taking part in the company's management. Looking at the third-generation owner equity structure at KleanNara, COO Choi Jeong-gyu is the largest shareholder with 16.12%, while Chair Choi Hyun-su and Vice President Choi Yun-su each hold 7.7%.
