LG Energy Solution is accelerating its entry into the software-defined vehicle (SDV) market based on its battery technology.
LG Energy Solution announced on the 3rd that it has joined the vehicle software (SW) open-market platform "SDVerse," the first among battery manufacturers.
SDVerse is the first business-to-business (B2B) platform for vehicle software, established under the leadership of U.S. automaker General Motors (GM), Canada's Magna, one of the world's top three auto parts manufacturers, and India's global IT services company Wipro.
Through SDVerse, LG Energy Solution unveiled five software solutions: battery platform software, a safety diagnosis calibration tool, onboard FRISM, onboard BLiS, and onboard DASH.
The battery platform software is a service designed to comprehensively analyze key indicators related to battery status, such as degradation and lifespan. The safety diagnosis calibration tool is software that enables safety status diagnostics and simulation verification based on battery data.
Onboard FRISM (Cell Data Free SOH Model) is algorithm-based software that estimates battery condition using field battery data and corrects errors with machine learning, enabling accurate diagnosis of battery degradation without relying on cell experimental data.
Onboard BLiS (Battery Life Simulator) is an algorithm that predicts the battery's degradation process numerically and estimates performance changes under various conditions. Onboard DASH (Degradation reduction Action Strategy for battery Health) is an algorithm specialized for managing the lifespan of electric-vehicle batteries.
Prashant Gulati, CEO of SDVerse, said, "We are very pleased to showcase LG Energy Solution's advanced battery management software and diagnostic technology, along with battery designs optimized for SDVs, on SDVerse," adding, "LG Energy Solution is helping accelerate next-generation electric-vehicle development by combining deep expertise in batteries with software-based intelligent systems."
Kim Je-young, chief technology officer (CTO) and executive vice president at LG Energy Solution, said, "By joining SDVerse, we expect to present our leading battery software capabilities, built over the years, to more customers," adding, "In line with the coming SDV era, we will further strengthen our technology leadership to drive faster growth in the electric-vehicle and battery markets."
