Hansol Paper said on the 2nd it launched the Protego HS series, a paper-based secondary packaging that can replace existing plastic flexible packaging.
With volatility in naphtha prices widening and instability in the supply of plastic raw materials continuing, Hansol Paper plans to strengthen its market responsiveness through paper-based packaging with high raw material supply stability.
Protego HS is designed to enable a quick switch from existing plastic packaging to paper materials. Hansol Paper completed pre-tests for major packaging processes such as printing, converting, and filling so that customers can proceed with product transition without separate equipment changes.
The product can be used as secondary packaging for a wide range of items, including chocolate, candy, powdered sauce, gim (seaweed), and coffee, and consists of five product lines tailored to customers' printing methods and physical property requirements. In particular, Hansol Paper built an efficient production system based on large-scale production facilities to secure cost competitiveness. Given the characteristics of paper materials, contributions under the extended producer responsibility (EPR) recycling scheme are exempt, which can also help reduce customers' operating expense.
It also addresses global environmental regulations. Protego HS is designed to meet the European Union (EU) Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation's highest recyclability rating, grade A.
A Hansol Paper official said, "Protego HS is a product that replaces existing plastic packaging while considering both production efficiency and expense competitiveness," adding, "We will continue to expand eco-friendly packaging solutions that respond to customers' diverse needs."
