HYBE moved to strengthen its overseas business by bringing a global platform and media expert onto its board.
HYBE said on Apr. 1 that, through its regular shareholders meeting, it appointed Isaac Lee, chair and CEO of HYBE America, as an inside director and Kevin Mayer, former senior executive vice president of The Walt Disney Company, as an other non-executive director.
Inside director Isaac Lee currently leads HYBE America and oversees operations across the United States and Latin America. The appointment is seen as a move to unify decision-making between headquarters and overseas hubs to strengthen execution in the North American and Latin American markets. Director Isaac Lee plans to advance a region-led "multi-home, multi-genre" strategy and focus on bolstering global business competitiveness by securing a diverse range of genres and artists.
Other non-executive director Kevin Mayer is regarded in the global media industry as a "strategist." He served as senior executive vice president and chief strategy officer (CSO) at The Walt Disney Company, where he led the launch of Disney+. He also built experience and a network in platform and content investment by serving as CEO of TikTok and co-founding Candle Media.
HYBE expects Mayer's addition to further elevate its global platform business capabilities and enable more precise decision-making in investment and strategic partnerships.
