HD Hyundai said on the 1st that a Canadian ICT-sector corporate delegation visited the Pangyo Global R&D Center (GRC) in Gyeonggi Province on the 31st.
The visit came as a Canadian trade delegation traveled to Korea to engage with corporations leading the country's advanced industries and to seek business and cooperation opportunities. About 30 executives and employees from 14 corporations in cutting-edge ICT fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, Robotics·automation, and quantum took part.
They toured the GRC's digital control center and digital convergence center and reviewed HD Hyundai's AI capabilities in digital ships and autonomous navigation.
A senior official at a Canadian ICT corporation said, "Seeing next-generation future ships, we could sense HD Hyundai's stature as the 'No. 1 Shipbuilder,' covering not only simple construction but also engineering and post-delivery ship management." Another Canadian official said, "Various collaborations are expected between Canada and HD Hyundai in the field of autonomous ships going forward."
An HD Hyundai official said, "We aim to showcase our state-of-the-art research facilities to Canada's leading ICT corporations and to develop cooperative ties," adding, "We will strengthen partnerships across a wide range of areas, including future AI technologies."
