POSCO Group said on the 30th it will launch an energy-saving campaign called the "SAVE challenge." In step with the national response to the energy crisis, the company aims to push companywide energy conservation in addition to the odd-even vehicle restriction that has been in place since 2008.

The SAVE challenge was designed to help employees save energy through everyday actions. S stands for using stairs (Step Up), A for using public transportation or walking (Active Transit), V for carpooling (Vehicle Share), and E for cutting power to save energy (Energy Off).

POSCO Group plans to accept participation applications from employees at 19 affiliates starting today and carry out the SAVE challenge practices from the 6th of next month. Employees can participate through an employee-only mobile application.

To encourage active participation, POSCO Group will award each participant up to 50,000 won worth of points based on verified activity. The points can be exchange for items such as e-gift card.

Even before launching the challenge, POSCO Group has steadily carried out lifestyle-focused energy-saving efforts, including enforcing the odd-even vehicle restriction, maintaining proper indoor temperatures, and turning off lights during lunch and after work.

POSCO Group said, "The SAVE challenge is meaningful in that it has created a companywide platform where all employees participate together toward the shared goal of overcoming the national energy crisis."
