OCI Holdings said on the 27th that it will carry out executive appointments and a reorganization effective Apr. 1 to focus its capabilities on future core businesses centered on advanced materials.
Kim Yu-sin, president and CEO of OCI Holdings, was promoted to vice chairman. Kim will continue to serve as vice chairman and representative director, CEO of OCI Co., Ltd. Born in 1965, Vice Chairman Kim joined the research section of OCI Co., Ltd.'s Gunsan plant in 1990 and has since held key posts including senior managing director for Business Development 1 and 2 and executive director of the Carbon Business Division. Lee Soo-mi, executive vice president and chief operating officer (COO) who serves as the representative of OCI Holdings, was promoted to president.
The reorganization was carried out with a focus on OCI Co., Ltd. (the operating company). A new Customer Solutions Business Team, a sales organization dedicated to customer-centered service, was established under the previous two-division structure of the Precision Materials Business Division and the Basic Materials Business Division. The aim is to respond closely to the semiconductor supercycle and maximize revenue in high value-added (specialty) businesses.
The Customer Solutions Business Team will expand collaboration with client companies to maximize synergies with new business exploration and research and development (R&D) capability enhancements being pursued by the OCI Central Research Institute. OCI plans to assign proven professional sales personnel from within the group to the Customer Solutions Business Team.
The OCI Central Research Institute will newly establish the High-Performance Materials Lab, the Next-Generation Materials Lab, the Semiconductor Materials Lab, the Fundamental Technology Lab, and the R&D Infrastructure Department.
