LIG Nex1 and U.S. artificial intelligence (AI) software leader Palantir Technologies will cooperate to advance the United Arab Emirates' (UAE) integrated defense solutions.
LIG Nex1 and Palantir on the 24th (local time) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for cooperation on developing integrated air defense network and unmanned systems solutions at Palantir's Palo Alto, California, office. Attending the signing were Chief Executive Officer Shin Ik-hyeon of LIG Nex1 and Ryan Taylor, Palantir's chief revenue officer (CRO) and chief legal officer (CLO), among other key officials.
Through this agreement, the two companies plan to dramatically strengthen future battlefield research and development (R&D) capabilities by combining Palantir's proven data solutions with the technologies LIG Nex1 has built in systems integration, including an "integrated air defense network" spanning low to high altitudes and mission-specific "unmanned platforms."
Since 2024, LIG Nex1 and Palantir have worked together to develop next-generation solutions by integrating the two companies' hardware and software. This MOU seeks to secure an integrated air defense network and unmanned systems that can respond quickly, accurately, and efficiently in diverse situations, and is expected to play a major role in strengthening the defense capabilities of export destinations around the world, including the UAE.
Chief Executive Officer Shin Ik-hyeon of LIG Nex1 said, "LIG Nex1 has worked to contribute to the advancement and sophistication of the defense capabilities of Korea and export destinations, based on comprehensive solutions that encompass precision-guided weapons, unmanned systems, and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance," adding, "We expect that expanding cooperation with Palantir will strengthen defense R&D capabilities and further enhance global competitiveness."
