Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS) said on the 24th that at the 59th Central Integrated Defense Meeting held on the 23rd, the Jeju LNG Headquarters was selected as an excellent organization for establishing an integrated defense posture and received a presidential citation.
The presidential citation for merit in establishing an integrated defense posture is an award given to one top facility that achieved the best performance, based on a comprehensive evaluation of task execution as a national defense element under the Integrated Defense Act, targeting more than 500 nationally important facilities nationwide.
The KOGAS Jeju LNG Headquarters underwent written and on-site evaluations across a total of eight fields and 24 detailed items, including drafting protection plans, strengthening protection capabilities, and training protection personnel. The evaluation results showed excellent performance in all areas, proving its integrated defense capabilities as a nationally important facility.
Specifically, it eliminated surveillance blind spots through the establishment of a real-time "scientific security system" that integrates closed-circuit (CC) TV and automatic tracking detection sensors, and refined practical response manuals based on an organic cooperation system with related agencies.
It newly identified the "emergency traffic recovery" task to prepare for radiation exposure situations on internal roads, established a realistic response plan, verified its effectiveness through drills, and reflected it in the Chungmu Plan.
Koh Youn-hye, president of KOGAS, said, "This award is the result achieved through years of joint efforts by all employees of the Jeju LNG Headquarters and related agencies," adding, "Going forward, we will establish an even more solid integrated defense posture at all sites, not just the Jeju LNG Headquarters, to ensure a stable supply of natural gas."
