On the 24th, In Tae-yeon, chair of the Small Enterprise & Market Service (SEMAS), visited the areas of Eunhaeng-dong and Daeheung-dong in Daejeon, which were selected as glocal commercial districts, to inspect how the districts are being managed.
The visit was arranged to check the reality of glocal commercial districts that are growing based on unique local resources and content, and to seek ways to sustainably revitalize the districts.
After touring key hubs of the district, In visited Sungsimdang, a flagship local brand of Daejeon. In also held a meeting with Im Young-jin, head of Sungsimdang.
Sungsimdang has built a stable employment structure centered on full-time positions, contributing to job creation in the region. In addition, Sungsimdang has established itself as a "glocal commercial district hub" that visitors to Daejeon make a point to visit, playing an important role in revitalizing the local economy.
In particular, Sungsimdang embraces "an economy for all" as its management philosophy. Sungsimdang reinvests revenue in employees and corporations, and then returns it to the local community, putting a virtuous cycle into practice.
In said, "Sungsimdang is demonstrating the social value of small merchants through stable job creation and giving back to the community," adding, "SEMAS will actively support the spread of regional flagship brands like Sungsimdang."
