Korea Electric Power Corporation held an AI management innovation declaration ceremony at its headquarters in Naju, South Jeolla, and on the 23rd released a vision and roadmap to leap forward as the world's top energy AI platform operator through the fusion of AI and energy.
According to KEPCO, the ceremony was attended by President Kim Dong-cheol of KEPCO and other executives, as well as officials from related agencies including the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment and the National Information Society Agency (NIA). Kim in particular presented a performance of entering with a Humanoid Robot to symbolize the future of the power industry led by AI.
A KEPCO official said, "We plan to use AI as a key driver of management innovation to solve difficult challenges such as energy security and responding to the climate crisis," and noted, "We will introduce AI not only across customer satisfaction, safety, and ESG management, but also throughout the entire power supply process to maximize the efficiency of grid operations and seek a fundamental change in how we work."
In the AI grand-transition roadmap released that day, KEPCO presented five key strategies: ▲ data ▲ solutions ▲ infrastructure ▲ governance and cooperation framework ▲ capabilities and culture.
To push ahead swiftly with detailed tasks, KEPCO plans to marshal companywide capabilities around the recently established "AI Innovation Group" and, through this, produce results such as on-time grid construction and services the public can feel.
President Kim Dong-cheol said, "KEPCO's AI grand transition is innovation that goes beyond introducing technology to maximize the efficiency of our core business—the power grid—and to fundamentally redefine how we work," adding, "We will make the convergence of energy and AI a core pillar of future growth drivers and achieve all-around management innovation."
