Renault Korea said on the 20th that it has equipped its flagship crossover, the Filante, with 34 advanced driving assistance and safety features. Renault Korea said that as driving assistance systems have become a key factor determining a vehicle's completeness beyond convenience, it developed various systems with a focus not on minimizing intervention but on "intervening precisely at the necessary moment."
The 34 driving assistance and safety features applied to the Filante by Renault Korea are configured as an "integrated safety system" to protect drivers in a variety of driving situations. Based on five radars and one front camera, it provides Level 2 driving assistance. The feature is standard across all trims. A Renault Korea official said it is "due to Renault's human-first philosophy."
A representative feature is emergency steering assist (ESA). When a collision risk arises at medium speeds, the vehicle assists evasive steering on its own to prevent accidents. There is also a rear-seat occupant alert. It detects movement inside the cabin even after the engine is turned off and sends a warning to the driver, and it can adjust the windows if the vehicle deems it necessary.
Renault Korea said Renault's philosophy is embodied in these features. Renault is a brand that meets safety standards, centered on the European market. It has long been held to high standards in areas such as pedestrian protection, collision avoidance, and lane keeping. Accordingly, in the Filante, systems such as lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and collision prevention are linked to one another rather than operating independently to enhance stability.
This philosophy from Renault is also reflected in the previously launched midsize sport utility vehicle (SUV) Grand Koleos. The Grand Koleos earned a Class 1 rating in the Korea New Car Assessment Program (KNCAP), winning recognition for crash safety and the completeness of its driving assistance systems. Renault Korea said the Filante inherits this safety philosophy and technical foundation and advances them to suit its vehicle class.
Hardware technologies such as the frequency-sensitive damper (SFD) have also been added. This technology helps the vehicle control body behavior according to road surface conditions. It is characterized by comfort at low speeds and stability at high speeds.
A Renault Korea official said, "What characterizes the Filante's various driving assistance and safety features is that they remain unseen," adding, "They are designed so that even without direct driver operation, the vehicle maintains safety above a certain level."
