On the 25th anniversary of the death of Hyundai Group honorary chairman Chung Ju-yung, members of the broader Hyundai family gathered at the Cheongun-dong residence on the 20th.
According to the business community and others, the extended Hyundai family gathered at the Jongno-gu residence in Seoul at about 7 p.m. on this day, a day before the anniversary of the honorary chairman's death, to hold the ancestral rite.
KCC Glass Chairman Chung Mong-ik arrived at the Cheongun-dong residence at about 6:02 p.m., and Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun arrived shortly after.
Hyundai Group Chairman Hyun Jeong-eun, HD Hyundai Chairman Chung Ki-sun, Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance Group Chairman Chung Mong-yoon, KCC Chairman Chung Mong-jin, Asan Foundation Chairman Chung Mong-joon, HDC Holdings Co. Chairman Chung Mong-gyu, and HL Group Chairman Chung Mong-won attended in turn. Also attending were Hyundai BS&C President Chung Dae-sun and his wife, former announcer Roh Hyun-jung.
The Cheongun-dong residence is where the honorary chairman lived during his lifetime. In 2001, Hyundai Motor Group honorary chairman Chung Mong-koo inherited it, and in 2019 he transferred ownership to his son, Chairman Chung Eui-sun. Since inheriting the Cheongun-dong residence, Chairman Chung has been holding the ancestral rite since 2020.
Hyundai Motor Group earlier held a memorial concert for the honorary chairman's 25th anniversary at the Seoul Arts Center on the 25th of last month. About 2,500 people attended, including Chairman Chung, first lady Kim Hea-kyung, figures from the political and business communities, and group executives.
