K Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. said on the 13th that it delivered a 74,000-ton (t) petrochemical product carrier to International Seaways (INSW), a U.S. shipping company. It is the third vessel among six petrochemical product carriers ordered in Nov. 2023.
The vessel reduces fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions and adopts the "K Smartship Solution" to support safe and efficient operations. It also has an "LNG Ready" specification that allows an easy conversion to an LNG-fueled ship and was built to meet Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) Phase 3 standards reflecting International Maritime Organization (IMO) environmental regulations.
K Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. said it holds the No. 1 global market share in the 74,000-ton-class petrochemical product carrier (LR1 tanker) market and continues to maintain its competitiveness in this vessel segment.
A K Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. official said, "This delivery once again proves our technological capabilities and quality competitiveness," and added, "We plan to further strengthen credibility in the U.S. market through cooperation with INSW."
