Korea SMEs and Startups Agency (KOSME) said on the 12th that it held the 2026 first AX innovation committee in the main conference room at its Mok-dong headquarters in Seoul to support successful AI transformation (AX) for small and medium-sized venture corporations and institutional innovation.

The AX innovation committee is a public-private cooperation governance body under the KOSME chairperson launched in Oct. last year, and it deliberates and advises on policy directions for spreading AX among small and medium-sized venture corporations and on KOSME's organization-wide AI initiatives.

At the committee meeting, more than 20 people attended, including seven AI experts commissioned from industry, academia, and research circles, as well as the KOSME chairperson and standing directors. Based on major recommendations presented by the committee last year, discussions were held to make policies and execution tasks more concrete. In particular, the three-year master plan reflected key recommendations such as "industry- and corporation-specific customized AI adoption" tailored to industrial characteristics and corporate digital capabilities and "matching between AI technology holders and demand-side corporations," strengthening policy continuity and effectiveness.

The main agenda finalized that day was KOSME's three-year AX master plan (2026–2028), which consists of three strategic goals and 27 execution tasks: ▲ implementing intelligent services that customers can feel ▲ strengthening future competitiveness of small and medium-sized venture corporations ▲ boosting organizational productivity through workstyle innovation.

In a keynote presentation, Professor Jang Min of Pohang University of Science and Technology POSTECH noted the advent of the "AI agent era," in which AI performs actual tasks, and emphasized that support methods for small and medium-sized corporations need a fundamental shift based on AI, breaking away from existing frameworks. Director Lee Il-jun of NHN Cloud said that merely adopting AI technology has limits and explained that building stable infrastructure determines the success or failure of AX, drawing agreement from attendees.

Kang Seok-jin, chairperson of KOSME, said, "AI transformation is no longer a choice but a core task that determines corporate competitiveness," and added, "The public sector will first set the direction and lay the groundwork so that the AX of small and medium-sized venture corporations can lead to tangible results on the ground, and we will carry out this plan without a hitch."

Based on this three-year plan, KOSME plans to shift the entire organization to an AI-centered approach, from public-facing services to internal administration, and to present a standard model that leads AX innovation in the public sector.
