Samsung Heavy Industries said on the 10th that it signed a construction contract with a Bermuda-based shipowner for three crude oil carriers worth 400.1 billion won. They will be built and delivered by the end of Feb. 2029.
Including this order, Samsung Heavy Industries has won a total of 11 ships worth $2.1 billion (about 3.1002 trillion won) so far, achieving about 15% of its annual order target of $13.9 billion (about 20.5205 trillion won).
By ship type, the tally is three liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, two ethane carriers, two container ships, and four crude oil carriers.
A Samsung Heavy Industries official said, "The current accumulated order backlog stands at 137 ships, $29.5 billion (about 43.5538 trillion won)," and added, "We will continue order wins focused on profitability."
