Chey Tae-won, chairman of SK Group, is reportedly set to attend Nvidia's annual technology conference, "GTC 2026," in the United States next week. Chey is expected to meet with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang to discuss supplies of High Bandwidth Memory (HBM), among other topics.
According to the business community on the 5th, Chey will attend the GTC 2026 event to be held on Mar. 16 (local time) in San Jose, California. This will be Chey's first visit to GTC.
GTC is a technology conference that Nvidia holds annually. It showcases the latest technologies and ecosystems related to artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductors and computing, as well as robots and Autonomous Driving. GTC 2026 will run from Mar. 16 to 19.
At this year's event, Nvidia is expected to unveil its next-generation AI accelerator, "Vera Rubin." Vera Rubin is slated to use HBM4, a next-generation HBM. Nvidia has reportedly allocated about two-thirds of this year's HBM4 volume for Vera Rubin and other products to SK hynix. However, Samsung Electronics entered the HBM4 market first. Samsung Electronics began mass production of HBM4 last month, the first in the world. As a result, the Vera Rubin to be revealed at GTC is expected to use Samsung Electronics' HBM4.
Chey and CEO Jensen Huang are expected to meet at GTC to discuss expanding HBM supplies. As AI data centers spread, demand for high-performance memory has surged, and there is a possibility they will also discuss collaboration on developing next-generation HBM technologies beyond HBM4.
Earlier, on Feb. 5, Chey and CEO Jensen Huang had a chimaek meeting at a Korean-style chicken restaurant in Santa Clara, California.
