Hanwha Group said on Mar. 1 that it would do its utmost to ensure the safety of employees and business travelers working in the Middle East, as well as their families, as U.S.-Israeli airstrikes on Iran on Feb. 28 and Iran's counterattacks continued.
Hanwha Group is currently operating export and local entry businesses in defense, finance, and machinery in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, and Kuwait. In Iraq, it is participating in the Bismayah New City construction project. There are 123 employees staying locally, and 172 people in total including families.
Kim Seung-youn, chairman of Hanwha Group, said, "Employees on the ground in the Middle East should put safety above all else, and the company should take every necessary measure to ensure rigorous safety."
Hanwha Group has established a system for real-time communication with local sites by each affiliate and is continuously monitoring the movements and safety of employees and their families. It is also cooperating to ensure the safety of local Koreans, including expatriates, by communicating with local diplomatic missions and Korean associations.
