Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) said on the 27th that Kim Jong-chul, former Director General of the defense technology protection bureau at the Defense Acquisition Program Administration, has been nominated as the new CEO.
KAI's board nominee recommendation committee on the day recommended the former Director General Kim as an internal director candidate for the appointment of a new president. It then held an extraordinary board meeting and approved the agenda to appoint the former Director General Kim as an internal director. KAI will submit the agenda to an extraordinary shareholders meeting to be held on the 18th of next month. If the agenda is approved at the extraordinary shareholders meeting, the company plans to appoint the new CEO through a board meeting to be held in succession.
After retiring as a member of the 31st class of the Air Force Academy, the former Director General Kim joined the Defense Acquisition Program Administration, serving as Director General for Planning and Coordination, Director General of the defense technology protection bureau, and head of the unmanned systems division. Kim is known as a figure who has built a career in areas such as defense planning and exports.
KAI's board nominee recommendation committee said, "The nominee Kim combines expertise that spans the entire defense industry and insight into future businesses," and added, "Based on export networks and strategic planning capabilities, Kim is expected to play a key role in helping KAI take a leap forward."
