Jeju Air said on the 23rd it will expand its China routes by operating routes between Incheon International Airport and Yichang Sanxia International Airport, and between Daegu International Airport and Guilin Liangjiang International Airport starting in April.
The Incheon–Yichang route will run twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays from Apr. 4 to May 30, and the Daegu–Guilin route will operate twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays from Apr. 30 to May 28.
Yichang is known as the site of the Battle of Yiling from the Three Kingdoms era and draws tourist demand for the Three Gorges Dam, a hydroelectric power plant. Guilin is a destination for tourists seeking natural scenery such as the Guilin karst landscape and the Li River.
Following an increase in flights on the Incheon–Yanji route in January, Jeju Air decided to resume the Incheon–Shijiazhuang, Busan–Shijiazhuang, Jeju–Beijing, and Incheon–Guilin routes during the summer schedule that begins on the 29th of next month.
Jeju Air said it made the decision as the number of passengers on its China routes increased from about 305,000 in 2023 to 493,000 in 2024 and continued to rise to 573,000 last year.
A Jeju Air official said, "With measures such as the visa exemption policy by the governments of Korea and China, travel has become more convenient, and we expect the upward trend in travel demand to continue," adding, "We will work to expand China routes to improve travel convenience for passengers from both countries."
