Eastar Jet Co. said on the 20th that it will launch service on the Incheon–Hong Kong route on Mar. 31 and expand its Greater China routes.
Eastar Jet Co.'s Incheon–Hong Kong route will operate daily, seven times a week. The outbound flight departs Incheon International Airport at 8:10 p.m. and arrives at Hong Kong International Airport at 10:45 p.m. (local time below), and the return flight departs at 12:05 a.m. the following day and arrives at Incheon International Airport at 5:10 a.m.
The schedule arrives in Hong Kong before the local subway stops running, and public transportation is also available after returning to Korea. In particular, because it departs after work and suits short weekend trips, demand from office workers is expected to be high.
To mark the launch of the Incheon–Hong Kong route, Eastar Jet Co. will run a special-fare promotion from 10 a.m. on the 23rd via its website and mobile app (web). The lowest one-way aggregates fare, including airport usage fees and fuel surcharges, is 76,600 won, and the travel period runs from Mar. 31 to Oct. 24.
An Eastar Jet Co. official said, "The Hong Kong route is a key route with steady demand not only for tourism and business but also for transfers," adding, "Because the schedule allows departures after work, it will be an attractive option for office workers planning efficient trips."
Meanwhile, the Incheon–Hong Kong route is Eastar Jet Co.'s 14th Greater China route after Taipei and Shanghai, and the company plans to continue expanding its Greater China network on the back of robust demand for China routes. Last year, the number of passengers on Eastar Jet Co.'s China routes increased by more than 128% from the previous year, and the average load factor per flight also rose by more than 28%.
