LS Electric said on the 13th that it completed building a factory energy management system (FEMS) linked to solar power generation facilities at the Ace Bed Eumseong plant and Yeoju plant and held a completion ceremony on the 12th.
The completed solar power facilities cover 20,385 square meters (about 6,166 pyeong) on the rooftops of 13 buildings at the Eumseong plant and 6,616 square meters (about 2,001 pyeong) on the rooftops of six buildings at the Yeoju plant. The capacities are 4,483 kW and 1,460 kW, respectively, totaling 5,940 kW.
Ace Bed will use 7.62 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of renewable energy annually from the newly installed facilities to run its plants. This will reduce annual carbon emissions by 3,617 tons, equivalent to planting about 550,000 pine trees. It is also expected to cut electricity bills by 1.5 billion won a year, and the renewable energy conversion rate (RE100) is expected to reach about 60%.
Ace Bed said it will use FEMS to monitor power usage by equipment in real time and secure optimal energy operation efficiency. In particular, it plans to adopt a self-consumption solar system, using self-generated power first and conducting transactions of the surplus in the power market.
LS Electric's FEMS systematically monitors energy use patterns to achieve both energy savings and expense optimization for manufacturers. It is characterized by easy integration with existing equipment and the ability to provide customized solutions that consider power system characteristics and financial conditions.
Executive Vice President Park Woo-beom of LS Electric said, "Following Volvo Group Korea last year, we are pleased to contribute to the domestic manufacturing sector's implementation of RE100 by building a solar-linked integrated energy management solution at Ace Bed's Eumseong and Yeoju plants this year," adding, "We will continue to take the lead in creating RE100 business sites while further solidifying our position as a company leading the smart energy solutions market."
LS Electric built a solar-linked integrated energy management solution at Volvo Group Korea's Changwon plant last year.
