Doosan Group Chairman Park Jeong-won has been carrying out a series of on-site management visits since the start of the year, touring key business sites in energy, advanced materials, and compact equipment.
Doosan Group said on the 12th that Chairman Park inspected the status of the energy business on the 11th during a visit to the Doosan Enerbility business site in Changwon, South Gyeongsang. He focused on the power generation gas turbine plant, which has seen a string of new orders, and the main equipment production lines for Small Modular Reactor (SMR) units.
Doosan Enerbility, which succeeded in localizing large gas turbines for power generation in 2019, has demonstrated competitiveness by winning orders for a total of 16 gas turbines at home and abroad to date. In particular, it signed a contract last year to supply five 380-megawatt (MW) class large gas turbines to Elon Musk's xAI, marking its first overseas export of gas turbines.
Doosan Enerbility has drawn up a mid- to long-term roadmap targeting cumulative orders of 45 gas turbines by 2030 and 105 by 2038. To that end, it plans to expand the annual production capacity at the Changwon business site to 12 units—1.5 times the current level—by 2028. It will also accelerate development of hydrogen turbines based on its core gas turbine technology to secure a lead in the next-generation zero-carbon power market.
In the SMR field, Doosan Enerbility is strengthening its position as a "global SMR foundry" dedicated to producing main equipment and core materials by partnering with global corporations such as NuScale Power, X-energy, and TerraPower. Starting with main equipment and core materials for 16 SMR units ordered by X-energy, it will begin producing the first batch entrusted by NuScale Power in the second half of this year.
At the Changwon business site, it is building the world's first SMR-dedicated plant to ensure on-time delivery of orders. Completion is targeted for 2028. Park told the accompanying management, "With the advent of the AI transformation era, a major window of opportunity has opened in the energy business," adding, "Based on the capabilities we have accumulated, we must further strengthen our global competitiveness and fully seize these expanded opportunities."
On the 2nd, Park toured the Doosan Bobcat Incheon business site. He was briefed on the business performance of products made in the ALAO (Asia, Latin America and Oceania) region—such as forklifts, skid loaders, and mini excavators—and on the status of business sites in Korea, India, and China, before sequentially inspecting the production lines for electric and hydrogen equipment and forklifts, as well as the R&D center.
While closely checking working conditions, he also urged employees that "safety is the most important thing."
On the 12th, Chairman Park Jeong-won will visit the Doosan Electronics BG business site in Jeungpyeong, North Chungcheong, to inspect the manufacturing process for CCL (copper clad laminate) used in artificial intelligence (AI) accelerators. CCL is a board coated with copper foil on both sides of an insulator and is a key base material for PCB (printed circuit board), which serves as the neural network of electronic products. Doosan Group said Electronics BG holds a world-class technological edge in this field.
Last month, Chairman Park Jeong-won visited the site of the world's largest electronics and IT exhibition, "CES 2026," in Las Vegas, to review the latest technology trends such as AI and seek business opportunities.
