Doosan Enerbility signed a gas turbine supply contract with Korea Southern Power (KOSPO).
Doosan Enerbility said on the 11th that it held a signing ceremony with Korea Southern Power (KOSPO) for the supply of three 380-megawatt (MW) class gas turbines. The signing ceremony at Doosan Enerbility's Changwon headquarters was attended by Seo Seong-jae, vice president for technology and safety at Korea Southern Power (KOSPO), and Son Seung-woo, head of the Power Services BG at Doosan Enerbility, along with officials from both companies.
Under this contract, Doosan Enerbility will supply three gas turbines to two power plants promoted by Korea Southern Power (KOSPO). Two turbines will be supplied to the Hadong Combined Cycle Power Plant, a 1,000 MW-class facility being built in Hadong County, South Gyeongsang Province, and one turbine will be supplied to the Goyang Changneung Combined Heat and Power Plant, a 500 MW-class facility being built in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, with generators and auxiliary equipment also delivered to each site. Both plants are targeting commercial operation in Dec. 2029.
Doosan Enerbility is working closely with Korea Southern Power (KOSPO), the operator of the most gas turbines in Korea, to revitalize the domestic gas turbine industry. Since 2018, the two companies have jointly carried out a project to develop high-temperature parts for 7F-class (models with a turbine inlet temperature of about 1,300–1,400°C) gas turbines, pushing to localize core technologies.
Key parts including the 7F turbine, combustor, and rotor have been localized, and after successful commissioning at the Busan Bitdream Power Plant in 2025, they are now in commercial operation. The two companies also jointly presented at the world's largest gas turbine user conference held in the United States last year to enter the global gas turbine services market, promoting Korea's gas turbine technology abroad.
Apart from four gas turbines for coal-replacement power plants that were bid on and contracted before mass production of its in-house model began, Doosan Enerbility has either signed supply contracts or is pursuing supply for all gas turbines needed by domestic combined cycle power plants. Doosan Enerbility plans to gradually expand its gas turbine manufacturing capacity to actively respond to growing domestic demand.
Son Seung-woo, head of the Power Services BG at Doosan Enerbility, said, "Including this contract, Korea Southern Power (KOSPO) has signed purchase agreements for a total of four gas turbines, playing an important role in expanding domestic gas turbines and building a domestic ecosystem," adding, "Doosan will successfully carry out this project by strictly meeting quality and schedule requirements and will do its best to actively supply competitive gas turbines to the domestic market going forward."
