The Ministry of SMEs and Startups said on the 11th that it held a "public-private joint policy forum on startups and ventures" to identify policy tasks in the startup and venture sector.
The forum was prepared to seek ways to boost the economy by "restoring the growth ladder for SMEs, ventures, and microbusinesses," with private-sector experts including former National Assembly Secretary General Lee Kwang-jae, Venture Business Association President Song Byung-joon, and KOSDAQ Association President Lee Dong-hoon.
In particular, this meeting is the first case of applying to a meeting with external private experts the free-discussion format introduced inside the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) by Minister Han Seong-sook, who has advocated a "ministry that works like a startup." Without prepared agenda items, participants freely discussed recently released policies and exchanged views on future policy tasks.
Minister Han said, "For key policies being pushed by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS), including the recent Everyone's Startup Project and regional startups, to take root successfully in the field, support and cooperation from the private sector—such as venture companies, private experts, investors, and local communities—are essential."
She added, "Going forward, to restore the growth ladder, we will create regular opportunities to hear from the private sector not only in the startup and venture field but also in areas such as SMEs, microbusinesses, fairness, and mutual growth."
