KLCSM, a ship management affiliate of SM Group, said on the 9th that it obtained the top 4-star certification from WeBUSAN. WeBUSAN is a certification program by Busan City and Busan Port Authority (BPA) for shipping and port corporations based in the Port of Busan.
It comprehensively evaluates safety management, human resources and organizational operations, system-based management, compliance with international standards, and the level of continuous improvement, and awards certifications from 1 to 4 stars.
A total of 77 corporations received certification last year, and KLCSM, which received 3 stars in 2021, obtained the higher 4-star certification for the first time in four years.
With KLCSM's 4-star certification, the number of ship managers with 4-star certification from WeBUSAN increased to two, following HMM Ocean Service, an HMM affiliate.
Following its selection as an excellent ship management operator by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries in 2024 and now receiving the top-tier certification from WeBUSAN, KLCSM said it will strengthen its crew and vessel management capabilities and further raise safety and service quality.
KLCSM joined SM Group in 2014. It currently manages vessels in the group's shipping division, including Korea Line Corporation, SM Line, Korea Merchant Marine, and Changmyung Shipping, and provides comprehensive solutions.
