Volkswagen Group Korea said on the 6th that the large sport utility vehicle (SUV) Atlas won in the "internal combustion engine SUV of the year" category in the evaluation for "Korea car of the year 2026," organized by the Automobile Writers' Association of Korea (AWAK).
AWAK's "Korea car of the year" is one of the most prestigious domestic automobile awards, selected by evaluating a total of 22 items including design, performance, convenience and safety features, and innovativeness. In this evaluation, the Atlas beat competing models such as the Hyundai Motor Palisade and the Volvo XC90 B6. The judging panel said, "The Atlas is a model that faithfully delivers the ample space and comfortable ride that a large SUV should have."
A Volkswagen Group Korea official explained, "The Atlas provides a 'true third row' with generous space even for six to seven adults," adding, "With the second- and third-row seats folded, it can secure a spacious cargo area of up to 2,735L." At the on-site vehicle test for this "Korea car of the year," a vehicle with three child seats actually installed in the second row of the seven-seat model was displayed, directly demonstrating its practicality as a family SUV that even large families can use without inconvenience.

Volkswagen Korea is providing Atlas buyers with a five-year/150,000-kilometer free extended warranty program and an accident repair total care service (first year only, up to five times) that covers deductibles when repairing accident vehicles at official service centers as standard.
