Smart home corporations COMMAX said on the 4th that it held an extraordinary shareholders meeting and appointed Kim Jong-uk as the new CEO.
CEO Kim, who holds a Ph.D. in electrical and electronic engineering and computer engineering, is a former researcher with development experience across hardware and software. After serving as CEO of Humax Automotive and CTO of Hanwha Techwin, he was appointed CEO of Kyungdongwon, the parent company of Kyungdong Navien, in 2019 to lead expansion of the home network business. In 2022, as CEO of Kyungdong Navien, he oversaw research and development, production, and quality, and since 2024 he has again served as CEO of Kyungdongwon.
COMMAX expects that Kim's management capabilities related to smart homes will execute its mid- to long-term growth strategy and boost business competitiveness. Based on his experience leading the home network business at Kyungdongwon, the company expects he will stabilize COMMAX's management early and help expand collaboration with Kyungdong Navien.
Kim said, "Focusing on COMMAX's technology asset and workforce, I will concentrate on stabilizing management and increasing efficiency in business operations," and added, "Through cooperation with Kyungdong Navien, we will strengthen the interoperability of life-environment solutions and smart home products and deliver tangible results in the global market."
COMMAX and Kyungdong Navien signed an acquisition agreement in Jan. and are now finalizing the acquisition process. After the acquisition, COMMAX's brand, sales, production systems, and customer service will remain as they are.
