The Ministry of SMEs and Startups said on Feb. 5 that it will hold a "regional roadshow on venture policy and venture investment" with Korea Venture Investment Corporation and Korea SMEs and Startups Agency (KOSME).

The briefing is a follow-up to the "plan to spur a startup boom" released on Jan. 30. It will run seven times from today through Mar. 12. It was prepared to guide venture support programs of agencies affiliated with the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) that are needed for the growth of regional venture companies, and to broaden understanding of venture investment and expand opportunities to attract investment from large venture capital (VC) firms based in the Seoul metropolitan area.

Starting in Jeonju today, it will be held by region in Daegu on the 10th, Busan on the 27th, and Gwangju on Apr. 4.

Institutions participating in the briefing will introduce their respective venture support programs. Korea SMEs and Startups Agency (KOSME) will cover loan programs, Korea Technology Finance Corporation (KOTEC) will cover guarantees, the Centers for Creative Economy and Innovation will cover startup support programs, the Korea Venture Business Association will cover the venture business certification and verification system, and the Korea Business Angels Association will explain regional angel investment hubs. The briefing will also offer consultations on support programs for participating corporations.

To raise understanding of venture investment among regional venture companies, there will also be a session introducing the mother fund of Korea Venture Investment Corporation and sharing venture fund management strategies of venture capital firms. In addition, to support regional venture companies in attracting investment, one-on-one VC consultations will be held with large metropolitan VCs and region-based investment firms.

At the first session for the North Jeolla region, 10 firms including KB Investment, Intervest, Kiwoom Investment, SBI Investment KOREA, and L&S Venture Capital will participate.

Minister Han Seong-sook of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) said, "The MSS will support the growth of regional venture ecosystems from multiple angles, not only by creating regional funds but also by holding regional policy roadshows, providing opportunities to attract regional investment, and offering regional investment education."
