Kia's mid-size sport utility vehicle (SUV) Sorento hybrid model has sold more than 300,000 units in Korea five years after its launch.
On the 1st, according to Kia, the Sorento hybrid has sold a total of 301,516 units in Korea from 2020, when sales began, through last year. The Sorento hybrid is the first SUV hybrid model in Korea to reach cumulative sales of 300,000 units.
Sales of the Sorento hybrid have increased each year, from 24,278 units in 2020 to 32,982 in 2021 and 49,411 in 2022. In 2023, with the launch of the partially changed fourth-generation Sorento, "The New Sorento," sales of the hybrid model also rose to 57,109 units.
In 2024, as hybrids gained popularity amid an electric vehicle chasm (a temporary demand slowdown), sales of the Sorento hybrid rose 18.8% year over year to 67,874 units. Accordingly, total Sorento sales, including internal combustion models, came to 95,538 units in the same year.
The Sorento's popularity continued in 2025. Last year, Sorento hybrid sales were 69,862 units, and total sales were 100,200, surpassing 100,000 and ranking No. 1 in domestic sales for the second straight year.
