Hyundai WIA's operating profit last year fell from a year earlier. Although it showed growth in complete vehicle parts and the defense industry institutional sector, expense expenditure increased due to the United States' high tariff imposition and facility investments.
Hyundai WIA disclosed on the 30th that, on a consolidation financial statement basis, operating profit last year came to 204.4 billion won, down 6.6% from a year earlier. It said profit declined due to tariff imposition by the U.S. government and expense expenditure for expanding its thermal management system.
However, last year's revenue rose 3.7% from a year earlier to 8.4816 trillion won. Revenue in the vehicle parts institutional sector and the defense industry·mobility solutions institutional sector increased 3.1% and 10.1%, respectively, to 7.8323 trillion won and 659.3 billion won.
A Hyundai WIA official said, "Domestic volumes of complete vehicles increased, and sales of modules and other parts grew, driving revenue growth," and noted, "In the defense industry·mobility solutions business, expansion of defense exports boosted artillery sales and supported growth." Hyundai WIA produces the barrels for the K2 tank and the K9 self-propelled howitzer.
Hyundai WIA plans to treat this year through 2028 as a golden time and move to growth. The aim is to rise into the global top three in integrated thermal management systems. Hyundai WIA also plans to focus on securing new technologies by expanding its lineup of logistics robots, parking robots, and collaborative robots.
