Hyundai Motor broke ground on an immersive safety experience center that employees, partner company representatives and civil society can participate in, aiming to open in the second half of this year.
Hyundai Motor said it held a groundbreaking ceremony for the "H-safety experience center" on the 28th at the Ulsan plant, with about 200 labor and management officials attending, including Vice President Choi Young-il, head of domestic production and chief safety and health officer; Vice President Jeong Won-dae, head of production support; Lee Jong-cheol, head of the Hyundai Motor labor union; and Lee Chang-min, senior deputy head.
The H-safety experience center is a safety media experience facility with a total floor area of 280 pyeong to be established on the Ulsan plant site.
Educational content using Augmented Reality (AR), holograms and special effects will be offered, and for the first time among domestic safety experience centers, the actual production site and hazardous situations at the Ulsan plant will be vividly recreated using projection mapping technology. Visitors will participate in safety awareness internalization training by experiencing safety accident content based on real cases across six zones: the welcome zone, safety zone, traffic safety zone, accident experience zone, hazard assessment zone and emotional safety zone. In the safety zone, visitors can experience a smoke-filled fire scene using special effects technology, and in the accident experience zone they can watch a simulation of a full-size forklift collision right before their eyes.
Hyundai Motor plans to provide immersive safety training to about 20,000 people annually after opening in the second half of this year.
A Hyundai Motor official said, "The H-safety experience center is a symbolic place that demonstrates Hyundai Motor's commitment to the highest level of safety," adding, "We expect it to become a place where all members internalize safety awareness by utilizing various new technologies."
