Mercedes-Benz Korea strengthened its AMG and SUV portfolio by launching the flagship SUV GLS high-performance model, Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 4MATIC+. This model is being launched in Korea for the first time.
The Mercedes-AMG GLS is a high-performance GLS model born from the fusion of AMG's refined engineering with the flagship SUV GLS. The sales price is 208.6 million won. (VAT and special consumption tax reduction applied)
The Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 4MATIC+ is equipped with a 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine that delivers a maximum output of 612 horsepower (ps) and a maximum torque of 86.7 kg·m, providing powerful performance. The vehicle's engine is characterized by precisely controlled output and explosive power delivery, and by placing twin-scroll turbochargers between the cylinder heads to shorten the air path, drivers can feel overwhelming acceleration response that reacts the moment the accelerator pedal is pressed.
During very high-speed driving, the BlueDIRECT multi-injection system and multi-spark ignition technology provide high efficiency and smooth rotational feel. In addition, the compact design of the engine banks optimizes vehicle weight distribution, delivering agile cornering like a sports car despite being a large SUV.
Energy recovery and smooth engine restart can also be experienced through the 48-volt mild hybrid and the integrated starter-generator (ISG) that includes a boost function.
The vehicle comes standard with AMG Ride Control+ suspension featuring adaptive damping adjustment. It offers stable driving at high speeds and a smooth, comfortable ride in everyday use.
The active roll stabilization system AMG Active Ride Control operates with two electromechanical actuators mounted respectively on the vehicle's front and rear axles to actively reduce body roll that occurs during cornering and enable more precise steering. It also compensates for road surface irregularities while driving in a straight line to enhance driving comfort.
In addition, the vehicle realizes dynamic yet refined driving performance by precisely tuning the software of ESP® (electronic stability program), the electronically controlled rear differential lock, the fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system and the suspension control system. The AMG variable performance exhaust system, which allows the driver to select the exhaust sound according to driving conditions, provides an enjoyable driving experience.
The exterior of the Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 4MATIC+ emphasizes sporty appeal through various visual elements. Instead of the Mercedes-Benz star logo on the front hood, an AMG emblem is applied, and 22-inch AMG multi-spoke lightweight alloy wheels and red brake calipers enhance the high-performance image.
When the vehicle's front door is opened, AMG-exclusive light animation greets occupants through a logo projector.
The interior emphasizes a robust impression with AMG-exclusive nappa leather applied to key components such as AMG seats and the instrument panel. In addition, the AMG performance steering wheel allows the driver to easily operate major driving functions and all driving programs from the steering wheel without taking their hands off while driving. The second-generation MBUX infotainment system and AMG-exclusive screens further deliver the AMG vehicle experience more intuitively.
In addition, the GLS 63 4MATIC+ offers a comfortable and relaxed driving environment through a variety of convenience features reflecting domestic customers' preferences, including the air balance package, front and rear multi-contour seats, head-up display, front seat temperature-controlled cup holders, power panoramic sliding sunroof, front and rear heated and ventilated seats, multifunction heated steering wheel, MBUX rear-seat entertainment system with two displays, Burmester® sound system, and energizing plus package.
Also adopted as standard are the driving assistance package, adaptive high beam assist plus, a parking package that includes a 360° camera, the KEYLESS-GO package, blind spot assist, a transparent bonnet and other latest driver assistance systems.
