Italian luxury car brand Maserati (Maserati) is officially launching the high-performance super sports car "GT2 Stradale (Stradale)" domestically.
This year marks Maserati's 100th anniversary in motorsports, and to commemorate it the GT2 Stradale was officially launched as Maserati's first new car of the year at the Maserati Pangyo showroom. The GT2 Stradale, produced in Modena, Italy, under a 100% limited-order production method, will begin deliveries to domestic customers starting this year.
The GT2 Stradale is a sports car rooted in Maserati's century-long dedication and technical capability in motorsports, incorporating the technology of the 'GT2' born to return to GT competition. Through this, it combines Maserati's elegant design while allowing owners to experience GT2's racing performance in everyday life.
The GT2 Stradale was designed considering various elements to realize racing performance on the road. Through weight reduction, its curb weight was reduced by 59 kg compared with the MC20, and the body package refined for precise airflow and the large rear wing generate up to 500 kg of downforce at high speeds of 280 km/h. Reflecting Maserati's racing technology accumulated on the circuit, it delivers performance close to a race car even on public roads.
The GT2 Stradale showcases the pinnacle of the V6 Nettuno engine directly designed and built by Maserati. Equipped with the most powerful Nettuno engine among current models, it produces a maximum output of 640 horsepower (PS) and a peak torque of 720 Nm. In particular, the time to accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h (zero to 60) is only 2.8 seconds, delivering the most explosive instantaneous acceleration among all rear-wheel-drive models. The top speed reaches 324 km/h, and it is designed to maintain stable output even at high revs based on a pre-chamber combustion system derived from Formula 1 technology.
The exterior features Maserati's characteristic elegant proportions with added details that visually express performance. The low, wide body silhouette incorporates airflow-considerate details at the front and sides. Also, the body composition actively uses carbon fiber, and the GT2 Stradale's exclusive rear wing and diffuser emphasize its identity as a high-performance model. In addition, owners can complete their own car through a variety of dedicated colors and the bespoke program "Fuoriserie."
The interior focuses on interior and interface arrangements to enhance driving immersion. To minimize reflections and distractions while driving, matte finishes and Alcantara material interiors are applied. In particular, it is fitted with new carbon fiber double-shell seats specially designed with Italian motorsports safety equipment maker Sabelt (Sabelt), lowering the driving position to emphasize the race car feel. The steering wheel was made with the consultation of Maserati's lead driver and former MC12 world champion Andrea Bertolini (Andrea Bertolini), and it was thickened to maximize ergonomic design and a sporty feel.
The GT2 Stradale offers driving modes that consider not only track performance but also everyday driving. It provides a wet-surface-suitable WET mode, a GT mode suitable for everyday driving, a SPORT mode for more dynamic driving, a CORSA mode optimized for track driving, and a CORSA EVO mode that limits electronic control intervention for more intuitive driving, allowing drivers to select the driving mode according to their purpose.
Convenience features deliver Maserati's unique sensibility and functionality at the same time. A front suspension lift system reduces strain on the vehicle underside from speed bumps or slopes, and a 10.25-inch screen and the latest generation Maserati Intelligent Assistant (MIA) multimedia system allow intuitive viewing of driving information and operation of vehicle functions. In particular, it comes standard with a premium 6-speaker audio system from Italian high-end audio brand Sonus faber (Sonus faber), offering deep and distinctive sound.
The domestic starting price of the GT2 Stradale is 450.5 million won.
At the launch event on the 23rd, which doubled as a new year greeting, Takayuki Kimura, head of Maserati Korea, said, This year's first new car, the GT2 Stradale, draws from the history of numerous races to deliver extreme performance, and we focused on maintaining the race car GT2's powerful performance and the sporty spirit that the MC20 successfully applied to a road car, adding, It will be a special choice for domestic customers who have been waiting for a high-performance sports car as a model that allows them to experience both the racing DNA Maserati has preserved and Italian luxury sensibility.
