Kia on the 20th unveiled the design of the eco-friendly sport utility vehicle (SUV) "The New Niro." The New Niro is a product enhancement model introduced about four years after the second-generation Niro, which was launched in Jan. 2022.
With the theme of "futuristic originality," the exterior emphasizes restrained sculptural beauty and clean surfaces to highlight a quiet yet strong presence.
The front "Star Map signature lighting" daytime running lights, which emphasize horizontal and vertical lines, aim for a modern and refined impression. On the side, wheel-arch cladding (body-edge components that surround the wheels) and door lower garnish (added components to prevent impacts and scratches) applied over the smoothly organized body surface underscore the SUV's inherent toughness.
At the rear, a tailgate (rear door) with horizontal yet bold surfaces gives a sense of stability and a visually wider look. LED rear combination lamp graphics accentuate the body width while adding a three-dimensional and dynamic rhythm. The lower bumper and wide rear skid plate also convey the impression of a robust SUV.
The interior of The New Niro, under the theme of "refined intensity," inherits the existing design identity while enhancing completeness based on sharp lines and precise proportions to offer an improved sense of space.
A panoramic curved display that integrates 12.3-inch cluster and infotainment systems creates a futuristic atmosphere. A thin, horizontal dashboard also enhances the sense of space.
A Kia official said, "The New Niro not only offers outstanding practicality based on utilitarian value, but also features a highly complete design that reflects the latest trends, delivering high satisfaction to customers."
Kia plans to release The New Niro in March, unveiling detailed information such as trim-specific configurations and prices.
